BCCI to pay outgoing CoA's salaries within 48 hours: Supreme Court
The Supreme Court passed the remuneration for the Committee of Administrators – past and present on a pro-rata basis, funds will be released within 48 hours.

The Supreme Court passed the remuneration for the outgoing Committee of Administrators (CoA) – past and present on a pro-rata basis. According to a report by a leading media daily, the apex court ordered the release of funds within the next 48 hours to the CoA. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will bear all costs and expenses that have been undertaken by COA. It will also include the prices of present proceedings that may be initiated against them.

Vinod Rai and his colleague, Diana Edulji are the only two CoA members now, making them the only two to receive all the allotted remuneration. The Supreme Court ordered the CoA members to be paid Rs 10 lakh per month for 11 months in 2017, Rs 11 Lakh per month for 12 months in 2018 and Rs 12 lakh per month in 2019. Rai and Edulji will be paid around 3.5 crores.

Meanwhile, Rai’s past colleagues such as banker Vikram Limaye, who resigned from COA and joined the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and historian Ramchandra Guha, who also quit the job due to the functioning of the committee, will be paid on pro-rata for services rendered.

BCCI CEO Rahul Johri has signed the proposal for remuneration, which has been presented in the Supreme Court by the Amicus Curiae. It has been already approved now. The Supreme Court has said that the purpose and objective of appointing the COA will end upon the assumption of charge by the elected body led by Sourav Ganguly. The court explained that the CoA shall be discharged of all their obligations.

The order stated that the committee and officers who have carried out the directions of the CoA should be immune while acting as such from action in respect of any act performed by them as CoA in good faith. Also, they added that no proceedings should be initiated without leave of the court.
