Ben Stokes' Participation in Sri Lanka Series Uncertain After Hamstring Injury during The Hundred

England skipper Ben Stokes pulled a hamstring when he was running between the wickets while playing for the Northern Superchargers in the English domestic Cricket league, The Hundred. Stokes pulled his left hamstring while taking a single from the non-strikers' end. After the game, England Cricket's red-ball skipper walked out on crutches when he shook hands with the opposition. He was also seen walking out of the stadium with support, as he signed some memorabilia for the fans. Stokes' situation does not look good as he had to walk out of the match retired hurt, with Harry Brook replacing him on the pitch.

When asked about Ben Stokes' injury status, batter Harry Brook told Sky Sports that the ENG skipper will be getting a scan, “It doesn’t look great unfortunately, but I think he’ll be getting a scan tomorrow [Monday] and see how he is.”

With a critical Test series scheduled to happen soon, Stokes' status is now under the mud as the scans will offer some insight into the extent of the skipper's injury. England will be in action against Sri Lanka in a three-match Test series while at home. England opens its test series on August 21, 2024, at Old Trafford, with the third and final test taking place at the Oval from September 06. The Three Lions are coming off a series sweep against West Indies, but the absence of skipper Ben Stokes could be seen as an advantage to the travelling Lankan Lions, who are coming off an ODI Series win over the Rohit Sharma-led Team India.

Speaking of the match, the Superchargers chased a victory target of 153 against Manchester Originals at Old Trafford.
