Ben Stokes' one-word response to reversing ODI retirement takes internet by storm

English cricket team all-rounder Ben Stokes has come up with one-word 'LOL' reply after his return in the 50 over format ahead of the CWC 2023.

After a discussion with England's limited-overs skipper Jos Buttler and coach Matthew Mott, English all-rounder Ben Stokes has reversed his retirement decision from the 50-over format and will play the ODI World Cup 2023 in India. Stokes led the English cricket team to draw the 2-2, Ashes 2023 series against Australia and was also part of England's T20 World Cup-winning squad in 2022.

Englis all-rounder Ben Stokes has come up with a new word 'LOL' response after his inclusion in the England squad for the upcoming ENG vs NZ ODI series. Stokes wrote on his official Twitter handle:

Ben Stokes, the man for the big stage

Ben Stokes was an integral part of the English cricket team in the ODI World Cup 2019. Stokes played a match-winning knock of 84* runs in the finals against New Zealand and his return to the squad will be a great boost for the three lions ahead of the 2023 edition of the tournament. However, England's Test captain announced a sudden retirement from the ODI format on July 18, 2022, citing issues of the workload management.

England to play New Zealand in opening match of ODI World Cup 2023

The English cricket team will be taking on New Zealand once again in the opening match of the ODI World Cup 2023 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Stokes' return to the team is a very good sign for the three lions as he has the added experience of playing on spinning tracks like Chennai in the Indian Premier League. However, after his return, Stokes is expected to give up his INR 16 crore contract with the Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League and pull out of the tournament.
