'An Inspiration': Ben Stokes Pays Tribute To James Anderson After Retirement From Test Cricket

James Anderson retired from test cricket after playing his 188th and final test match for England vs West Indies. As Jimmy retired, Ben Stokes paid tribute.

James Anderson signed off from International Cricket after playing his 188th and final test match for England vs West Indies at Lords on July 12th, 2024 in winning fashion as England dominantly won the test match by an innings and 114 runs. 

As Jimmy Anderson walked off the cricket field one final time, the entire Lords stood up in ovation. As James Anderson retired, England Captain Ben Stokes had some great words to remember the iconic fast bowler.

Ben Stokes' Tribute To James Anderson

England captain Ben Stokes in his post match interview after England's dominant win over West Indies in James Anderson's last test. In his post match interview Ben Stokes simply said that James Anderson has inspired a generation of cricketers. 

“Jimmy has been an inspiration to so many people. So many young people have looked up to him and seen the amount of games and wickets which is phenomenal," said Ben Stokes on James Anderson.

James Anderson will stay on as the bowling mentor of England and Ben Stokes was grateful to have Jimmy continue and guide the youngsters in England's cricket team.

"We are very lucky to keep him in the dressing room. To have him offloading his learnings to you young bowlers is incredible. Sometimes you can be lost for words. Desire to get better, he’s 41 and always looking to improve himself as a bowler. He’s just got better and better, he always wants to contribute to the team,” said Ben Stokes on James Anderson.

James Anderson bowed out of Test Cricket having played 188 test matches and picking up 704 test wickets.
