Big Bash 2019: Delhi Capitals' Marcus Stoinis invents new way of saving boundaries

The Delhi Capitals' latest acquisition Marcus Stoinis showed his brilliance on the field when he saved a Jonathan Wells boundary in his recent Big Bash match.

Adelaide Strikers triumphed over Melbourne Stars in ir Big Bash League match on Friday. While Strikers were in driver's seat for most part of game, re were a few parts of match where Stars stole spotlight. Have a look at all-rounder Marcus Stoinis' invative save in first innings of game.

Marcus Stoinis makes unconventional save

Fielding methods in cricket have kept evolving as game has gotten shorter. New drills are constantly introduced for players to expand ir agility and effectiveness on  field. One such moment happened in match when Adelaide Strikers were batting in first innings. Jonathan Wells' target setting kck of 68* was in its mere infancy during  8th over when he struck a Sandeep Lamichhane delivery towards boundary. ball looked like a certain four but n, seemingly out of where, Marcus Stoinis dashed towards ball and flicked it away from ropes through his legs. This move looked unconventional but was effective as boundary was easily saved. However, save could t help team much as Stars could t chase Strikers' total of 174.

Delhi Capitals pick up Marcus Stoinis at IPL 2020 Auction

In last week's IPL Auction, Marcus Stoinis made his way to Delhi Capitals as a part of ir new squad. Stoinis debuted in IPL for Kings XI Punjab and was a part of Royal Challengers Bangalore in  2019 season. However, Stoinis could t make too much of an impact for se teams and will look to reverse his fortunes with his new team. Stoinis will w join likes of Ravichandran Ashwin, Ajinkya Rahane, Rishabh Pant, Shikhar Dhawan and Shreyas Iyer.
