Hardik Pandya perishes to a bizarre runout in the WI vs IND 1st ODI
India’s vice-captain Hardik Pandya joined Ishan Kishan on the crease in the 2nd innings of the 1st ODI after Suryakumar Yadav was dismissed for 19 runs off 25 balls. The 29-year-old added 16 runs off 14 balls for the third-wicket partnership before getting runout in a bizarre fashion. In the 14th over of India’s chase, Kishan played a powerful shot, handing the ball back to Yannic Cariah, who tried to catch it but failed.
However, the ball deflected on to hit the stumps at the non-striker’s end, with Hardik Pandya stretching back to save himself. However, as the third umpire checked the replay, Pandya’s bat was seen to be on the air as he was deemed out. The star all-rounder’s wicket reduced India to 70/3 in 13.1 overs, as India went on to clinch the victory around 10 overs later.
