Former West Indies captain Brian Lara believes IPL 2020 will play a huge factor in deciding Chris Gayle and Dwayne Bravo's availability for the T20 World Cup.

Former West Indies captain Brian Lara is currently in India for Road Safety World Series. In an interview with a leading online portal, Lara revealed that upcoming Indian Premier League season (IPL 2020) will play a huge role in deciding future of Chris Gayle and Dwayne Bravo in West Indies cricket. While Chris Gayle will represent Kings XI Punjab in IPL 2020, Dwayne Bravo will be seen donning Chennai Super Kings jersey in tournament.

While keeping in mind this year’s ICC T20 World Cup in Australia, Brian Lara said that IPL 2020 will signal who can actually carry on to play for West Indies. Both Chris Gayle (40) and Dwayne Bravo (36) are senior-most members of West Indies line-up and both were part of victorious T20 World Cup side in 2012 and 2016. Lara also pointed out five-month gap between IPL 2020 and T20 World Cup and said that former can really help West Indies selectors in determining ideal players for World event. legendary cricketer concluded by saying that with likes of Nicholas Pooran, Kieron Pollard, Andre Russell and with possible inclusions of Bravo and Gayle mselves, every or nation will look at West Indies as team to beat in T20 World Cup.

Previously, Dwayne Bravo anunced his international retirement in October 2018 but came back in December 2019 to participate in 2020 T20 World Cup. Chris Gayle himself is a T20 veteran and is widely considered by many as one of greatest batsmen of all time in format. Both are seen as crucial members of ir respective sides in IPL 2020.

Meanwhile, Brian Lara will w lead West Indies Legends against Australia Legends on March 15 at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune. West Indies Legends lost ir opening two games, i.e. to India Legends and South Africa Legends respectively. ongoing Road Safety World Series is a T20 cricket competition launched by Maharashtra’s Road Safety Cell for raising awareness about road safety.
