BCCI will decide on composition of its Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) and subsequent changes in national selection committee only after Supreme Court hears its plea on amending some of key Lodha reforms in January. This could effectively mean that MSK Prasad-led committee will also select squad for three-match T20 series against Sri Lanka, starting January 5. According to sources in BCCI, top brass wants to wait till January hearing as re will be clarity on a lot of issues including CAC and wher its needed in first place to conduct interviews for prospective selectors.

"It is unlikely that CAC will be formed before Supreme Court hearing in January. So naturally, selection committee might also take some time to form. It is still t clear wher new selection committee or existing one will pick squad for marquee New Zealand tour," a BCCI source told PTI on conditions of anymity.
BCCI in its plea has asked for relaxation in 'cooling off' period which will allow president Sourav Ganguly and secretary Jay Shah to complete ir full terms instead of 10 months. BCCI also wants to amend clause that requires court's approval for any amendment in constitution. In fact, Ganguly while addressing media after December 1 AGM had spoken specifically about issue related to CAC and contentious Conflict of Interest clause.

"CAC doesn't have much work. We keep talking about CAC, but job of CAC is appointment of selectors and coach. So, once you appoint a selection committee, it stays for four years and once you appoint a coach, it (he) stays for three years. So, where is need of having a full-time CAC?," Ganguly said while addressing media after Board's AGM.
"So far it (CAC) is horary, so even if you pay, you pay on what basis. re is regular work. To have CAC with conflict of interest, I don't kw wher it is best thing. It is about only one meeting," Ganguly added.
BCCI chief said it will approach apex court to get a clarification on conflict of interest clause.
"Conflict clause stops everyone, that's why we can't make CAC. That's why we can't bring proper selectors. Conflict should only be for someone like us (office bearers). Conflict stops us from getting good people. We are going back to court to get clarification about conflict clause," Ganguly said.
