Former England batsman Kevin Pietersen has opened up on Indian cricketers Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma's T20I future ahead of the 2024 World Cup.

After a disappointing 2023 ODI World Cup final, the ‘Men in Blue’ have started their preparations for the upcoming 2024 T20 World Cup. The Indian team lost to Australia in the final of the CWC 2023 after being undefeated in all ten games of the tournament. With yet another major ICC tournament all set to take place next year, India will be aiming to end their ICC trophy drought.

Kevin Pietersen gives honest verdict on Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma's T20I future
Former England batsman Kevin Pietersen was asked about Indian captain Rohit Sharma and batsman Virat Kohli's future in T20Is. After India's disappointing loss in the T20 World Cup 2022 semi-final against England, Virat and Rohit have stayed away from the T20I format, whereas, the Indian management has been constantly giving chances to the other younger players. Speaking to IANS, Pietersen said:
They ( Kohli and Rohit) have every chance, would have to see how they go in IPL, check them in the IPL. Because they have been so incredible servants to Indian cricket, you have to give them the respect and you have to ask them that according to form whether they fancy their chances or not. They are fabulous cricketers.

BCCI start to build core team for T20 World Cup 2024
Ever since India's disappointing loss in the final of the 2024 T20 World Cup, BCCI and the Indian selectors have started to work on the core team for the next edition of the tournament. The management has been constantly giving chances to young players who have shown immense promise in the IPL. Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya is expected to become the team's T20I captain as the ‘Men in Blue’ have played majority of the T20I series after the 2022 World Cup under the leadership of Hardik.
