Chris Jordan wants England selectors to have 'headaches'; here's why

England's fast pace bowler, Chris Jordan expressed confidence in the team's bench strength and hoped that England's fringe players will give the selectors as many 'headaches' as possible. With multiple options to choose from, the competition for selection increases keeping everyone on the top of their game, he added. The pacer is amongst England's top tier bowlers including Moeen Ali, Jofra Archer and Chris Woakes who have been rested for the T20 series against New Zealand.

"We have added more young wealth to the team," says Jordan

While reflecting on the opportunities for youngsters like Sam Curran, Patt Brown and Matt Parkinson, Jordan was quoted as saying, "The more number of players that we have for selection, the more headache we can give the selectors and as a result, everyone will also be on the top of their game." He also added that the English squad had added more 'young wealth' to their team and that has kept everyone on the top of their game.

He further added that he considers himself to be a senior player owing to the experience he has but he is ready to learn from any player, be it a senior or a youngster. While speaking about the T20 World Cup next year, Jordan said that the tournament was still far away and wasn't on his mind right now.

"Rest and Rotation Crucial," says Chief Selector

Apart from Ali, Archer and Woakes, England batsmen Jason Roy and World Cup hero Ben Stokes have also been rested for the tour of New Zealand. England's Chief Selector Ed Smith said that "rest and rotation" will be a crucial part of the selection process for the national team. Stressing on the significance of a "break", Smith said, "Our players must be at their best when we need them to be. They must be well prepared mentally and physically, and capable of performing well."

England's tour of New Zealand begins with the first T20 match on November 1 at Christchurch.
