Cobras to face CSA probe for failure to meet transformation target

Cricket South Africa (CSA) is set to investigate team selection of Cape Cobras after it fielded two black African players instead of required three against Warriors, thus failing to meet board's transformation target in ongoing domestic series. CSA expects all domestic sides in South Africa to field a minimum of six players of colour -- including three black Africans -- every time y take to field as part of ir commitment to facilitate transformation. However, Cobras were left one short after y included two black African players -- Thando Ntini and Tladi Bokako -- during four-day first-class match in Cape Town on Monday.

Akhona Mnyaka had earlier been named in squad, but he was t picked. Cobras, however, fielded seven players of colour in side. Cobras later provided a written explanation for ir team composition to CSA.
"CSA has ted submission by Western Cape Cricket (Cape Cobras) in lieu of a request for a deviation from administrative conditions. CSA will launch a furr enquiry into this incident and will consider all related and relevant information in order to arrive at a decision about strength and validity of argument by WCC," Thamie Mmbie, CSA's head of communications told ESPNcricinfo.
