Monday's encounter between Rajasthan Royals and Kings XI Punjab at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium was a delight to watch for the spectators as Chris Gayle became the fastest batsman to score 4,000 runs in IPL history. At the same time, this match will also be remembered for a bizarre incident which involved Punjab skipper Ravichandran Ashwin.
The incident took place in the 13th over of Rajasthan innings when Ashwin had dislodged the bails at the non-strikers end while he was about to bowl as Jos Buttler had walked down the pitch. The Punjab skipper appealed for a run out instantly. The decision was made in his favour and Buttler's gritty knock came to an end. However, this did not go down well with Twitterati and they criticized Ashwin for 'Mankading' Buttler.
There were also people who backed the Punjab skipper.
Prior to his dismissal, Buttler had taken Rajasthan off to a flying start along with Ajinkya Rahane. He scored 69 off 43 balls which included 10 fours and two sixes at a strike rate of 160.47.
