Cricket Australia Mocks Babar Azam With A Quirky Post As Pakistan Registers Historic ODI Series Win

Cricket Australia mocked Babar Azam for his attempt to help an injured Shaheen Afridi with a quirky post during the third and final ODI at Perth.

Pakistan beat Australia by eight wickets in the third and final ODI to win the three match ODI series ‘down under’ 2-1. Pakistan were completely dominant in the second and third ODI as they shrugged aside the host nation to clinch their first ODI series win in Australia since 2002. 

Babar Azam once again made the headlines during the third ODI but this time not because of his batting but his actions on the field when Pakistan teammate Shaheen Afridi went down injured. Babar Azam's actions made a frenzy on social media and the batter was mocked by Cricket Australia.

During the first innings of the match, Pakistani pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi went down injured injured his left thumb after being hit by an awkard bounce of the ball. 

Shaheen Afridi went down in pain holding his thumb and needed medical attention. Before the medics came, Babar Azam rushed to Afridi's aid and gave him massage.

Babar Azam's reaction became a talking point aong commentators and Cricket Australia took to their social media with a cheeky caption, “Dr Babar is on the case”.

Pakistan's historic triumph

Mohammad Rizwan's debut series as the white ball captain of Pakistan could not have gotten off to a better start as Pakistan beat Australia 2-1 in the series.

This marks the first time, Pakistan has beaten Australia in an ODI series in Australia in 22 years. The last time a Pakistani team beat Australia at their home in an ODI series was back in 2002. 

Pakistani pacer Haris Rauf was named player of the series after winning back to back man of the match awards.
