'Chapter closed': Warner affirms his status for 2025 Champions Trophy after retiring from all format
Australia opener David Warner has made his status clear for the ICC Champions Trophy in 2025 after he retired from all formats of cricket.

After Australia's campaign ended in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024, it was the end of the road for David Warner as he stepped down from all the formats of cricket. Warner has already stepped down from Test Cricket after playing his farewell series at home against Pakistan, which they won with a clean sheet. Warner stepped off the ODI format as a champion, but they succumbed at the Super 8 stage after falling to Afghanistan and India. The Aussies have project Champions Trophy as they approach 2025, and Warner was eager to be in it. As he steps down, will Davey compete for his national side?

David Warner reveals his stand for the 2025 Champions Trophy after retiring from all formats
David Warner has sent out a statement on social media as he thanked the Australia cricket. He opened up about his experience playing for the national side and thanked everyone who made it happen. Warner then addressed his current situation, saying that he will continue to play franchise cricket and also be open to return to the Australia side if he was selected for the Champions Trophy in 2025.
"Chapter closed!! It’s been an unbelievable experience to play at the highest level for such a long period. Australia was my team. The majority of my career was at the international level. It’s been an honour to be able to do this. 100+ games in all formats is my highlight. I want to say thanks to everyone out there who has made this possible. My wife and my girls, who sacrificed so much, thank you for all your support. No person will ever know what we’ve been through. For all the cricket fans out there, I truly hope I have entertained you and changed cricket, especially tests, in a way where we scored a bit faster than. We cannot do what we love without the fans, so thanks.
"I will continue to play franchise cricket for a while, and I am also open to playing for Aus in the Champions trophy if selected. To the players and staff, thanks for putting up with me. No more what’s app junk, your ears are now going to be free of my voice. This team has had unbelievable success the Last few years and long may this continue. Pat cummins, Andrew old Mac and staff have got this," Warner wrote on the social media platform Instagram.

Having David Warner come back to represent Australia for the 2025 Champions Trophy will look to be an interesting scenario. It is yet to be seen on what will happen in the future.
