As uncertainty over Team India star Shubman Gill looms, Devdutt Pikkal has been called up to India squ as y gear up for Australia challenge while Down Under. Karnataka batter scored 88 runs in first unofficial test match, which earned him call-up for India in Border Gavaskar Trophy. One of Pikkal's senior teammates in Karnataka team has offered some essential guidance to him.

As Devdutt Pikkal gears up for BGT challenge, his senior Karnataka teammate Mayank Agarawal has offered some key vice to Indian batter. Agarawal was in a similar situation in 2018-19 series when he was called up for Melbourne Test, and he said that Pikkal needs to embrace challenge at hand if he gets a chance to go up against Australia in Perth Test.

“y (Indian players) have h time to prepare. good thing was (that) a lot of guys went and played India A games.

“y have h at least three weeks to prepare mselves for conditions. But it n now boils down to mindset — are you willing to get into fight? Or are you willing to embrace that fight? If he can get into that mindset — which he has; he has got a lot of skill, a lot of flair (and he) works hard on his game,” Mayank Agarawal said to PTI.

At first, Devdutt Pikkal was left out of India's 18-man Border-Gavaskar Trophy squ. However, after A team's unofficial Tests in Australia, he was asked to stay back after Shubman Gill was hit in left hand prior to start of series.

While fielding at slip, Shubman Gill hurt his hand, which is thought to be a fracture. Pikkal is expected to play for second time in format if he stays out of Perth Test. young Indian batter me his debut against England in March. India batter is being monitored and bowling coach Morne Morkel assured that a call will be me in morning of test match. It is yet to be seen what happens tomorrow.
