Dhawan ruled out of T20I series against Windies; Samson called up

Shikhar Dhawan has been ruled out of the upcoming T20I series against West Indies due to knee injury and Sanju Samson has been selected as his replacement

Opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan has been ruled out of upcoming T20I series against West Indies due to knee injury and Sanju Samson has been selected as his replacement. Dhawan suffered a deep cut on his left knee during a Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy game against Maharashtra in Surat. BCCI Medical Team assessed him on Tuesday to review healing of his wound.  BCCI Medical Team has suggested that Dhawan needs some more time for his stitches to come off and his wound to heal completely.

All-India Senior Selection Committee has named Sanju Samson as Dhawan’s replacement for T20I series. Meanwhile, team India wicket-keeper Wriddhiman Saha sustained a fracture on his right ring finger during recently concluded Pink ball Test in Kolkata against Bangladesh. BCCI Medical Team consulted a hand and wrist specialist and it was suggested that Saha undergoes a surgical fixation of fracture.

Subsequently, he underwent successful surgery in Mumbai on Tuesday and will soon commence his rehabilitation at National Cricket Academy, Bengaluru.
