Dhoni still unavailable; Kohli to rest himself; Ganguly to meet both
The Bangladesh tour selection meeting garners interest for two reasons: whether Virat Kohli will rest himself for T20 series & if Dhoni will make a comeback.
When selection becomes more than what meets the eye -- when it assumes larger than the "picture" proportion then you know something is brewing up. First, the timing of the selection committee meeting (postponing it from Monday to a day after BCCI AGM) indicates two things. One, the new office bearers now want to catch the "bull by the horns" and take things under their control and two, BCCI president-elect (Sourav Ganguly) would be meeting a few important players before the committee take a decision on selection. The selection meeting for Bangladesh tour doesn't really invite a hype but still garners enough interest level for two reasons: whether captain Virat Kohli recuses or rests himself for the T20 series and if MS Dhoni makes a comeback.
Kohli to take rest
In the first case, it's learned from reliable sources that Virat Kohli is likely to be rested on his own request for the T20 series and Rohit Sharma will lead in his absence. Kohli, however, will be available for selection for the two-match Test series against the same opponent.
Dhoni to make a comeback?
But all eyes and a little more interest are on Dhoni and his decision. When recently Republic TV tried to ask Dhoni about his time of return, Dhoni ducked the question by saying the "channel was visible even from a distance". It will be foolhardy for Indian team management and selectors to take Bangladesh lightly and the She-e-Bangla players were looking to play in India for a long time. But with rotation policy with pace bowlers in vogue, selectors might just be tempted to tinker in with the batting order as well.
