England find themselves in a pretty dominant position against Sri Lanka at Day 3 of the first test match at Old Trafford, Manchester in the three match test series in between the two sides. Missing their captain Ben Stokes due to injury, the English red ball side led by stand in skipper Ollie Pope bundled Sri Lanka for a score of 238 runs in the first innings and then took a 122 run lead by notching up 358 in their innings.

Despite England's dominant position, it wasn't their dominating performance that got Paul Collingwood's attention but instead it was a fan in the stands.

Paul Collingwood in awe of England fan

Towards the end of England's innings on day 3, in an insane moment an English fan managed to catch a six by one hand and also save his beer via the other hand.

The incident occurred when Mark Wood smashed a six and as the ball sailed over the ropes and into the stands, a fan pulled off an blinder to take the catch with his right hand and at the same time prevent his beer cup from spilling from his left hand.

The catch impressed England's coach Paul Collingwood who cracked up and couldn't help but mimic the fan's action in awe.

England's precarious WTC position

England find themselves in dominant position against Sri Lanka in the first test match and if they want to make it to the final of World Test Championship in 2025 they need to whitewash Sri Lanka in the three match test series.

For all of Bazball's incredible play in the past year, England find themselves in a desperate 7th place on the WTC ladder with just 36.54 percentage. England have played 13 test matches winning six, losing six and drawing one.

But due to their slow over rate they were deducted 14 points which led to their woeful percentage and massive drop in the standings. Hence starting with the series against Sri Lanka, England will need to massively overturn their fortunes if they want to make their first ever WTC Final.
