Zak Crawley expresses desire to participate in IPL
England's Test superstar Zak Crawley is contemplating participating in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) auction. Crawley recently took part in the five-match Ashes 2023 series against Australia, where he emerged as England's top run-scorer with 480 runs in 9 innings. Crawley is gearing up for a comeback to the Big Bash League during the winter season.
Crawley expressed opitimism about getting into the mix of names being discussed for the England T20I squad. Following the recent retirement of England opener Alex Hales from international cricket, a potential spot alongside Jos Buttler at the top of the T20I batting lineup could open up.

He also communicated his desire to participate in the IPL. Crawley called it the biggest franchise tournament in the world, saying it is the only place to see all the best playing against each other.
"It's the biggest franchise tournament in the world. It's the only place to see all the best playing against each other. It's great cricket and to be able to test yourself in that tournament would be awesome. We'll see how I go. If I score some runs and it looks like I've half a chance then, then potentially I will [put my name forward]. I'm a realistic guy though, so if I feel like there's no chance then I won't… If I was good enough one day to play in the IPL and someone wanted me, then I'd absolutely love to go," Crawley was quoted as saying to ESPNcricinfo.

Can Crawley make a mark in white-ball formats?
Crawley's involvement in white-ball cricket has been infrequent since his Test debut in 2019. His three England ODI appearances occurred two years ago, as a part of the secondary team that defeated Pakistan on home soil. The 25-year-old is yet to make his mark in T20 internationals. Crawley's performance in the recently-concluded Ashes series was brilliant as he smashed one century and two fifties.
