Ex-Banglesh Skipper Mashrafe Mortaza’s House Attacked by Vandals, Set Ablaze Amid Violent Protests

As per reports coming in from Banglesh, country's former national team skipper Mashrafe Bin Mortaza's residence was attacked by an enraged mob and it was set on fire. This took place during violence and unrest among Bangleshi natives, which enraged after Sheikh Hasina stepped down from her position on Monday. Mortaza was a member of Awami League party, which is led by Sheikh Hasina.

Mashrafe Mortaza represents Khulna division's Narail-2 constituency in Parliament, which is probably why mobs attacked his home. Mashrafe Mortaza was Banglesh's skipper for most matches — 117 — during his cricket career. In 36 Tests, 220 ODIs, and 54 T20Is, he amassed 2,955 runs and claimed 390 international wickets. Mortaza joined Sheikh Hasina's Awami League in 2018 after retiring from sport, and he was chosen to represent Narail-2 constituency as an MP.
