Amidst growing uncertainty over wher India will send its team to Pakistan, former cricketer Tanveer Ahmed has lashed out at his fellow countrymen for what he sees as a lack of dignity in handling situation.
ICC Champions Trophy, a prestigious international cricket tournament, is set to be held in 2025, with Pakistan originally awarded hosting rights. However, a major hurdle has emerged after Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) reportedly informed International Cricket Council (ICC) that India would not travel to Pakistan for event due to security concerns. In response, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has warned it could give up tournament’s hosting rights altoger if India refuses to participate.

BCCI, however, is reportedly open to holding its matches, if not entire tournament, at a neutral venue. Talks are ongoing, and a final decision is expected in coming weeks, but standoff has alrey ignited intense debate both within cricketing world and on social media.

Tanveer Ahmed asks his people to demand respect for mselves
Amidst this backdrop, former Pakistan cricketer Tanveer Ahmed took to social media to express his displeasure not at India’s stance, but at behavior of his own countrymen. In a series of tweets, Tanveer Ahmed raised serious concerns over treatment of Pakistani journalists and media personnel in ongoing debate.
According to former fast bowler, Pakistani news channels have repeatedly invited Indian journalists to discuss ongoing dispute between PCB and BCCI, yet not a single Indian outlet has extended same invitation to a Pakistani journalist.

"Pak ind k issues par humarey pakistan k sab news channels par india ka journalist nazar aya mujhe ye koi bataye ga india news channels walon ney humarey kitney journalist apney shows main liye apni izzat karwana shekho" Tanveer Ahmed wrote on Twitter.
Translated, his tweet roughly res, “On Pakistani channels, Indian journalists are always seen talking about ongoing Champions Trophy issue. Can anyone tell me how many times Indian news channels have invited Pakistani journalists to ir shows? Learn to demand respect for yourself.”

As for Champions Trophy, ongoing dispute has left many questioning wher Pakistan will be able to host event at all. BCCI’s refusal to send a team to Pakistan has created a significant impasse, with PCB threatening to relinquish its rights to host tournament if India does not participate. However, BCCI is still pushing for a neutral venue, which could potentially resolve issue of security concerns.
