Speaking on Fox Cricket, former Australian leg-spinner Kerry O’Keeffe deemed Pattinson’s actions “unsavoury” and said that once player has played a defensive shot back to bowler and he picks it up, that completes that delivery and bowler is supposed to walk back to bowl his next, while former all-rounder Brendon Julian too h a similar opinion and said that batter wasn’t even going for a run and that bowler can’t be doing that.

“ two most unsavoury aspects are, a) send-off when you’ve got somebody out and, b) chuck at stumps by a bowler, are we only country that does it? Like, Mitch Starc does it for fun in England and he gets booed. Is it way we play our cricket? You hit it back to bowler, he picks it up and wants to peg you – I mean, what is going on re? ball is de once it’s in his hands. Walk back to mark and bowl it again,” O’Keeffe said
