'For everyone who stood by me': Iyer pens heartfelt post for fans after brilliant century

Indian cricket team batter Shreyas Iyer made a fantastic return to the Indian team after constant injuries and slammed a century in the IND vs AUS 2nd ODI. Iyer played an innings of 105 runs in Indore and added 200 runs with his partner Shubman Gill for the second wicket. Gill also scored a ton in the second India vs Australia ODI match and played a knock of 104 runs.

Shreyas Iyer slams 3rd ODI ton in the IND vs AUS match 

Shreyas Iyer came out to bat in the second India vs Australia ODI match when the team was in a very tough situation. Team India had lost an early wicket in the form of Ruturaj Gaikwad and it looked like the Australian pacers would put some extra pressure on the Indian batting lineup. However, Iyer had different plans and started to attack the Aussie bowlers from ball one. The right-handed Indian batter played shots in every part of the ground and hit a total of 11 fours and three sixes to secure his third ODI ton. 

Shreyas Iyer went through a back surgery and came back to the Indian team during the 2023 Asia Cup. However, Iyer was not able to play any match in the tournament after the clash against Nepal due to back spasms. The team management gave him sufficient time to fully recover from his injury. Iyer has now thanked all his fans and the people who stood besides him during his recovery period. Iyer went to his 'X' handle and wrote in a tweet:

The Indian cricket team management has tried out a bunch of players at the number four and five positions over the last three to four years. Shreyas Iyer has been the most successful batter at the position and scored a lot of runs. Iyer has an aggressive batting style and a wide range of shots. The Mumbai batter can also play the spinners by stepping out of the crease for big and huge sixes. Iyer's presence in the Indian squad for the 2023 ODI World Cup can prove to be very effective for the team.
