The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will be poised to have former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly as its president. This will happen when the much delayed annual general meeting is held in Mumbai on October 23, 2019. Sourav Ganguly has been a part of a number of administrations in the country and he seems to be the right choice as he would look to shape cricket in India in a better way. Sourav Ganguly is one of the most prolific cricketers who has proved himself beyond the pitch. Meanwhile, former Gujarat Cricket Association joint secretary, Jay Shah and Anurag Thakur's brother Arun Singh Dhumal are expected to take over the role of secretary and treasurer, respectively.

Once in 2003, Indian spin bowler Anil Kumble was about to be dropped from a tour. Ganguly intervened in this situation and stood his ground in the meeting which was stretched till 2:00 AM. He got Anil Kumble back in the team. Eventually, Kumble finished as the highest wicket-taker in the ICC calendar. Ganguly has been a person who takes decisions which is best for the sport. He is also on the BCCI Cricket Advisory Committee. He was elected as the president of the Cricket Association of Bengal before being in the technical committee of the CAB. As soon as he took up the role, he cracked a two-year title sponsor deal for CAB.
