Sourav Ganguly's history in Indian cricket administration

Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will be poised to have former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly as its president. This will happen when much delayed annual general meeting is held in Mumbai on October 23, 2019. Sourav Ganguly has been a part of a number of ministrations in country and he seems to be right choice as he would look to shape cricket in India in a better way. Sourav Ganguly is one of most prolific cricketers who has proved himself beyond pitch. Meanwhile, former Gujarat Cricket Association joint secretary, Jay Shah and Anurag Thakur's bror Arun Singh Dhumal are expected to take over role of secretary and treasurer, respectively.

former Kolkata Knight Riders skipper is one of four members of Indian Premier League’s (IPL) governing council. He is responsible for all functions of cricket saga in IPL after being appointed by Supreme Court in January 2016. Also, Ganguly is a member of technical committee in IPL. Before taking over president’s role in BCCI, he played role of BCCI Technical Committee Chairman.

Once in 2003, Indian spin bowler Anil Kumble was about to be dropped from a tour. Ganguly intervened in this situation and stood his ground in meeting which was stretched till 2:00 AM. He got Anil Kumble back in team. Eventually, Kumble finished as highest wicket-taker in ICC calendar. Ganguly has been a person who takes decisions which is best for sport. He is also on BCCI Cricket visory Committee. He was elected as president of Cricket Association of Bengal before being in technical committee of CAB. As soon as he took up role, he cracked a two-year title sponsor deal for CAB.
