Former Cricket West Indies (CWI) boss Dave Cameron has thrown his hat in ring to succeed India's Shashank Mahar as next ICC chairman. United States Cricket Hall of Fame recently wrote to Mahar, indicating that y would like to recommend Cameron to top post of International Cricket Council.

"I believe we need to find a sustainable financial model where teams can earn through merit," Cameron, who served as CWI president from 2013 to 2019, was quoted as saying by 'Jamaica Gleaner'.

" big three India, Australia and England have all events, audience and biggest ecomy, but smaller nations have to always be coming back to ICC for financial support, so what we want to happen is t equal share of revenues, but equitable share," said Cameron.

former CWI president will need two minations to stay in fray and it is t clear if he will receive support from CWI chief Ricky Skerritt, who h replaced him at helm and h a public spat with him.

Mahar will relinquish post when his term ends this year, paving way for new chairman to formally take over position. ICC's Annual General Meeting is scheduled at end of July.

England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) chief Colin Grave is currently front-runner for top post and BCCI president Sourav Ganguly's name have also been doing rounds. Cameron said if he gets to become ICC chairman, he will like to take sport to USA.

" overall cricket structure needs change and needs to be looked at from different lenses. re is tremendous opportunity in Americas which has huge ecomies that are untapped, and we need to look at cricket world from a different set of eyes," said Cameron.

"We are still trying to fit Test cricket, T20, ODIs and world events into same 12 months with more teams, and I think re is a way to look at that to create more money with fewer events and to allow more players to participate in global game."
