Prithvi Shaw has been omitted from Mumbai's Ranji Trophy team due to poor fitness and irregular attendance at practice sessions. Despite being touted as a future star, Shaw's recent behavior and performance have led to questions about his mindset and work ethic.

In July 2019, Prithvi Shaw was suspended for eight months after testing positive for terbutaline, a banned substance. He claimed he had taken an over-the-counter cough syrup, but the BCCI imposed the ban.

In January 2020, Prithvi Shaw 's misconduct in the Mumbai dressing room and poor lifestyle were reported, delaying his comeback to the Indian cricket team.

In December 2020, Prithvi Shaw was accused of faking an injury during a warm-up match in Sydney, with Ajinkya Rahane calling him out.

In April 2021, Prithvi Shaw refused to bat in an IPL practice session, prompting criticism from the then Delhi Capitals head coach Ricky Ponting.

In May 2021, Prithvi Shaw broke COVID-19 rules by driving to Goa from Maharashtra without an e-pass, but later obtained one when he was stopped by the authorities.

In March 2022, Prithvi Shaw failed to pass the yo-yo test, falling short of the required score leading to his non selection in the Indian team.

In February 2023, Prithvi Shaw 's car was attacked by a group of ‘influencers’ after he refused to take a selfie, and he was later accused of molestation by one of the girls in the group, though the court gave him a clean chit.
