Gautam Gambhir makes a huge statement about Jasprit Bumrah
Gautam Gambhir is of the opinion that Rohit Sharma and team should avoid managing Jasprit Bumrah's duties meticulously throughout the Asia Cup 2023. On Saturday, September 2, the Indian cricket team, also known as the Men in Blue, will face Pakistan in the inaugural match of the Asia Cup in Pallekele. Bumrah, who has participated in only two T20Is since his rehabilitation from back surgery, is expected to lead India's bowling attack in this crucial match.
During a talk on Star Sports, Gautam Gambhir offered his opinion on the question of whether Jasprit Bumrah would take workload management into account considering his recovery from injury. In reply to this question:

"Workload management is finished now. You are at a stage now where instead of workload management, you will think about more game time and bowling as much as possible, because you have the Asia Cup, then three matches against Australia, and then straightaway the World Cup."
Gautam Gambir believes that more game-time will be beneficial for both Bumrah and Team India
Adding to his point, the former India opener says that Bumrah will get better if he plays more games, and the management should avoid giving him any breaks.

"The World Cup comes once in four years and no one knows what will happen after four years, the fitness and rhythm a fast bowler will have after four years. I believe the more games he plays, the better he will get. The Indian team shouldn't start giving him breaks now."

Gautam Gambhir emphasised the difference between general physical fitness and bowling fitness. He emphasised the need for Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, and Mohammed Siraj to play often in games leading up to the World Cup.
