Sourav Ganguly picks his Indian wicket-keeper for the Asia Cup squad

For the forthcoming Asia Cup and ODI World Cup, which will be hosted in India, Sourav Ganguly, the former captain of the Indian cricket team, commented on India's search for a wicketkeeper-batter. Due to the absence of Rishabh Pant, who is currently recovering from injuries sustained in a vehicle accident last year, this selection decision has taken on a lot more significance.

The well-known Indian cricketer Ganguly made a comment in which he indicated that he favoured Ishan Kishan as the preferred wicketkeeper-batsman over Sanju Samson. Ganguly emphasised the importance of Kishan's aggressive batting style in making his decision.

Pant is the best wicketkeeper in the country, but you can see Ishan Kishan, KL Rahul (depending on his fitness); these two will be right up in Rohit's and Rahul's minds. I like Ishan Kishan because he just opens up the game for any team. I am sure Dravid will keep him in his plans,

What did Ganguly say about the squad for the Asia Cup 2023?

Ganguly elaborated on the team's mission, calling for a perfect blend of youth and experience. Three players he singled out as particularly promising were Yashasvi Jaiswal, Tilak Varma, and Ishan Kishan. These three, he said, are unencumbered by failure and can play without fear.

Furthermore, Ganguly emphasised the wide variety of players available to head coach Rahul Dravid and the selection committee. He emphasised the need to determine the best eleven players to start each game.

It has to be a team of experience and people who don't have any scars -- like Jaiswal, Varma, Ishan Kishan. They can go and play fearless cricket. Rahul (Dravid), Rohit and the selectors have plenty of choices; they just have to identify and pick the best XI,"

The suad is anticipated to be announced this week as India currently takes on Ireland in a T20I series. They will be facing Pakistan their arch rivals and one of the favourates for the tournament in their Asia Cup opener on September 2, 2023.
