World Cup-winning coach Gary Kirsten is one of the front-runners to become head coach of England as Trevor Bayliss stepped down after the conclusion of Ashes

Former South African skipper Gary Kirsten is one of top candidates to take over coaching role of England cricket team. After disappointing Ashes campaign by home team, Australian Trevor Bayliss stepped down as he coach after his four-year stint with side. Bayliss was appointed as England’s coach in 2015 and under his tenure, English team won 2015 Ashes and also reached number one position in ICC ODI team rankings. However, ir biggest achievement under his coaching stint came when England won ir first-ever ICC Cricket World Cup, just months before Trevor stepped down from role.

Gary Kirsten as front-runner for England coach
According to reports by British media, Gary Kirsten will meet some of top ECB officials where he will be sharing his vision for English team going forward. One of officials in meeting will be England’s Director of cricket, Ashley Giles. meeting is scheduled to take place at Lords and his appointment will most likely be anunced before England’s tour of New Zealand which starts from vember 1.

Gary Kirsten’s track record as a coach
Gary Kirsten is t new to coaching. 101-Test veteran previously coached team India and was a key member of Indian team manment during ir 2011 World Cup victory. His partnership with skipper MS Dhoni was heavily praised as y formed one of best captain-coach duos in Indian cricket history. After his coaching stint with ‘Men in Blue’, Gary took up he coach job for his home country South Africa. He also joined IPL-franchise RCB for top coaching job in 2018. As one of front-runners to become England’s coach, South African legend will be looking to emulate his previous success with 2019 World Cup winners as well.
