Gautam Gambhir made a grand entrance for his inaugural practice session as the new head coach of Team India, a moment that quickly went viral on social media. In the widely circulated video, Gambhir is seen descending the stairs at a stadium in Sri Lanka, exuding confidence and determination. This marks the beginning of a new chapter for Indian cricket as Gambhir takes the helm, bringing his wealth of experience and a fresh perspective to the team.

Most recently, Gautam Gambhir guided the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to the IPL 2024 title in his role as mentor, ending the team's long trophy drought. The last time KKR won the IPL was back in 2014, with Gambhir leading the side as captain.

This is Gautam Gambhir's first tenure as a head coach. Previously, he has guided teams in a mentor's capacity but never as head coach. Gambhir has served as the mentor for both the Delhi Capitals and the Lucknow Super Giants.

India vs Sri Lanka

The Indian cricket team has travelled to Sri Lanka for a T20I and ODI series, starting July 27. Suryakumar Yadav will captain the T20 team with Shubman Gill as his deputy, while Rohit Sharma will continue to lead the 50-over side. Hardik Pandya has not been named the captain due to fitness concerns.
