Interview saga
In a recent interview, Irfan h claimed that he h started demise of former opener's career. He recalled discomfort he h caused Gambhir during 2012 bilateral series between two teams. In series consisting of three one-day internationals and two T20 matches, Irfan dismissed Gautam Gambhir four times. After that series, Gautam Gambhir struggled to regain his form at international level.

Irfan also claimed that Indian batsman never liked to face him in a match or in nets and always avoided eye contact with him. Gambhir, a cricketer-turned-politician, played his last T20I against Pakistan in Ahmedab. He played his last ODI against England in 2013, and his last test was also against England in 2016
