India tour of Sri Lanka: Gautam Gambhir is all set to lead the Indian Team into a new era. As Indian cricket enters into a transitional phase, the onus falls on Gautam Gambhir to build a strong side and prepare the team for five ICC events in the next three years. The former Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) mentor succeeded Rahul Dravid as the Head Coach of the Indian team earlier this month.

Big Changes Coming Up For Team India

With Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli retiring from T20Is, the young guns of the team are expected to take the baton of Indian cricket forward. Soon after becoming T20 World Champions for the second, a bunch of Indian youngsters travelled to Zimbabwe under the leadership of Shubman Gill. India clinched the series by 4-1 and now Gill is also in the reckoning to become the Indian team in one of the formats.  Gambhir's focus will primarily be on India's ODI side as there is the Champions Trophy coming up.

A report published by Cricbuzz suggests that Rohit Sharma might make himself available to play the ODIs against Sri Lanka. It is also being said that Rohit has cut short his vacation by few months to make himself available for the three match ODI series. Rohit Sharma recently became the third Indian skipper to win an ICC Trophy after MS Dhoni and Kapil Dev. India went on to win the T20 World Cup undefeated which is a record in itself. Undoubtedly, it is the last phase of Rohit Sharma's career but he might try and get another ICC Trophy for India after his recent success.
