The Gautam Gambhir era in Indian Cricket is finally underway after the former opener took over as the head coach of Team India. Gautam Gambhir's first assignment as head coach of Indian Cricket Team will be India's tour of Sri Lanka where the team will play 3 T20Is and 3 ODIs.

Ahead of his first assignment as India head coach, Gautam Gambhir has sent a very clear message to Indian players on what he expects out of them in all formats of the game playing for Men In Blue.

Gautam Gambhir's Clear Message To India Players

Gautam Gambhir has made it clear to every Indian player that he is not interested in players specialising one format over any other format. He wants Indian players to play all three formats of the game that is T20Is, ODIs and Tests with the same commitment.

Gautam Gambhir made this point clear in an interview which was recently aired by Star Sports.

“I'm a very strong believer in one thing, that if you're good, you should be playing all the three formats,” said Gautam Gambhir in the interview.

This does meant that Gautam Gambhir will continue to urge players in Indian Cricket team to play all three formats to bring in stability in the team's setup. Players like Hardik Pandya who have pulled out of tests due to injury management can be urged to play red ball cricket once again as Gambhir doesn't think injury management is not the reason to miss tests.

“I've never been a big believer that injury management, you get injured, you go get recovered -- as simple as it gets. Injuries are part of a sportsman's life. And if you're playing all the three formats, you get injured, you go back, get recovered, but you should be playing all three formats,” said Gautam Gambhir
