Indian coach Gautam Gambhir slammed Australian legend Ricky Ponting regarding Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma 's form ahead of the BGT Series. In the recently concluded India vs New Zealand test series, the trio of coach Gautam Gambhir , captain Rohit Sharma and batter Virat Kohli were absolutely slammed. Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma had one of the worst test series of their lives and this had led the star batters to come under massive criticism from fans and pundits alike. 

Gautam Gambhir defended his batters by stating they are tough men and that they are still hungry to perform.

Gambhir Defends Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma Amidst Bad Run Of Form 

During the press conference, Gambhir stated, “Not at all. What does Ponting have to with Indian Cricket. I think they are incredibly tough men who have achieved a lot for Indian Cricket and they will continue to perform for Indian Cricket. The most important thing for me is there hunger to continue to perform for the Indian Cricket Team”.

India's head coach Gautam Gambhir on Monday put up a stout defence of under-pressure skipper Rohit Sharma and star batter Virat Kohli, saying they are still "incredibly hungry" to perform and will bounce back in Australia. Gambhir also dismissed theories that he is under pressure after India's 0-3 whitewash at home against New Zealand.

"There are incredible people in the dressing room who have done a great job," Gambhir said during the pre-departure press conference. 

India will play the first match of the Border-Gavaskar test series on the 22nd of November and the coach of the Indian cricket team seemed confident about the series.
