'Give Virat Kohli silent treatment': South African skipper Faf du Plessis' advice to Australia

South African skipper Faf du Plessis has advised the Australian cricket team that they should not pick up a quarrel or confrontation with Indian skipper Virat Kohli when the two teams take on each other in three T20Is, four Tests and three ODIs starting later this month.

Speaking to the media ahead of his side's only T20I against Australia, the veteran middle-order batsman has suggested Aussies that any kind of argument with Kohli will only spur the Indian skipper and get him going.

"There are guys like that in international cricket (who enjoy the confrontation). We feel like that when we play against someone like Virat Kohli, he wants to get into the fight. There’s one or two guys in each team around the world that we as a team discuss before playing against them. We’re like, ‘better not say too much to him because you’ll get him going’," he said.

After that, du Plessis, taking into account his personal experience from South Africa's series against India earlier this year, also mentioned that Aussies should give Indian skipper a silent treatment, just like his side did.

"He’s an amazing player. We gave him the silent treatment and he still scored runs in South Africa, but we felt like it was not huge runs – he scored the one hundred there in Centurion when the wicket was slow. So every team will have what they think works – for us, that was silent treatment."

India's much awaited tour 'Down Under' kicks off on November 21, and will last for almost two months. They head into the tour with mixed emotions. Kohli's side has been unbeatable at home, and have rolled over teams in the past few years. But their away form in the recent series has been a source of concern.

Despite a promising display, the Indian team was beaten 2-1 in the Test series by South Africa earlier this year. It was then followed by a 4-1 defeat in the hands of England, which seriously dented the confidence of Kohli and co.
