Gurugram Police gets hold of woman trying to extort money from Yuvraj Singh and his family

Dimpy Kaushik began giving threatening calls to Yuvraj and his family demanding Rs 40 lakhs in order to not malign their image.

The Gurugram Police on Tuesday arrested Dimpy Kaushik for trying to extort money from Yuvraj Singh and his family. Dimpy who is married and resides in the Khidki area of Malviya Nagar was employed by Yuvraj Singh's mother Shabnam for taking care of Singh and his family at their home in DLF Phase-1, Gurugram.

However, with her work not being liked by Yuvraj and his mother she was sacked from the job. This incident did not go down too well with Dimpy and she began giving threatening calls to Yuvraj and his family demanding Rs 40 lakhs in order to not malign their image.

Police officials catch Dimpy Kaushik red-handed

On February 25, a plan was set up to catch Dimpy red-handed taking money. Dimpy was called at Mega Mall, one of the most prominent shopping complexes in Gurugram where she was handed over Rs five lakhs. However, she couldn't take over the money as she was arrested by Gurugram Police.

"A complaint was given to us by a famous cricketer's mother on Hema Kaushik who is also known as Dimpy Kaushik of how following her sacking of a caretaker she was trying to blackmail the family. We subsequently arrested her and also seized Rs five lakhs which she was found taking red-handed. Further investigations in this case are underway," said a senior official of Girugram Police.
