Indian women's team captain, Harmanpreet Kaur, has been suspended by the International Cricket Council (ICC) due to her conduct during the 3rd ODI against Bangladesh on Sunday. The ICC has imposed a two-match suspension on the 35-year-old cricketer for her criticism of the umpiring decisions made during the match. Following her contentious dismissal, Harmanpreet expressed her frustration with the umpires in her post-match presentation in Mirpur, displaying unsporting behavior on the field. As a result of her actions, the ICC took disciplinary action, leading to the suspension.

ICC suspends Harmanpreet Kaur: Here's the full statement
"India women's team skipper Harmanpreet Kaur has been suspended for the next two international matches following two separate breaches of the ICC Code of Conduct. The incidents occurred during the third match of the ICC Women’s Championship series against Bangladesh in Dhaka on Saturday. Kaur was fined 50 percent of her match fee for the Level 2 offence and received three demerit points on her disciplinary record," ICC said in a statement.

She was found guilty of breaching article 2.8 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, relating to “showing dissent at an umpire’s decision”.
"Kaur was also fined 25 percent of her match fee for a Level 1 offence relating to "public criticism in relation to an incident occurring in an international match" when, during the presentation ceremony, Kaur openly criticised the umpiring in the match. The Indian captain admitted the offences and agreed to the sanctions proposed by Akhtar Ahmed of the Emirates ICC International Panel of Match Referees. As a result, there was no need for a formal hearing, and the penalties were implemented promptly.

"A Level 2 breach typically carries a penalty ranging from 50 to 100 percent of the player's match fee, and three or four demerit points, while a Level 1 breach entails a minimum penalty of an official reprimand, up to a maximum penalty of 50 percent of the player's match fee, and one or two demerit points. In Kaur's instance, the accumulation of four demerit points converted to two suspension points, leading to her suspension from either one Test match or two ODIs or two T20Is, whichever comes first for the team," ICC concluded when announcing the punishment.

India women vs Bangladesh women: Why did Harmanpreet lose her cool?
During the third ODI against Bangladesh women, Harmanpreet was given leg-before by the on-field umpire. She was dismissed for 14 off 21 balls. However, Harmanpreet claimed that the ball touched the bat before hitting her on the pads. Due to the unavailability of DRS in the series, her claim couldn't be verified and she had to leave the field.
Harmanpreet broke the stumps in anger after being given out. She openly criticised the umpiring in her post-match presentation, calling it 'low-level.' Harmanpreet also mocked the Bangladesh players during the joint photo session as the series had ended in a tie. She was seen calling the umpires to join in, implying that Bangladesh wouldn't have won without their help.

This caused Bangladesh players to leave the photo session. Nigar Sultana, the Bangladesh captain, expressed her disappointment at Harmanpreet's behavior the press conference, emphasizing the importance of discipline and respect in the game of cricket.
