England wins greatest run chase over WI in 3rd T20I thanks to Harry Brook's last over heroics

On December 16, during the third Twenty20 International, England batsman Harry Brook was instrumental in pulling off an unlikely victory against the West Indies in the last overs. It looked like England would lose again, down 0–2 against a formidable 223 as their aim. But when Jos Buttler and Phil Salt combined to create a strong opening partnership—115 runs for the first wicket in just 68 deliveries in the first 10 overs—the tide turned.

Will Jacks and Liam Livingstone were removed from the field early on, leaving Harry Brook and Salt at the crease with 13 deliveries remaining and 37 runs required. In the last over, Brook grabbed command of the game. Taking advantage of Andre Russell's bowling, he struck two sixes and a boundary in the first three balls, cutting the deficit to five runs off three.

With two sixes over covers and the fine leg and a four into the fine leg area, Brook demonstrated his wide range of shot selection. After scoring three runs off of two balls and securing a brace off the fourth ball, he ended the game with a six over the third-man area.

After scoring just one and five in the first two games, Harry Brook—a generational talent—faced doubts about his spot on the white-ball team. However, his incredible performance quieted his detractors. However, Phil Salt's incredible first-ever T20I century—which the 27-year-old amassed off 56 deliveries—matched his valiant efforts. When combined, they helped England defeat the West Indies in their highest-ever T20I run chase.
