The 'Voice of Indian Cricket' Harsha Bhogle was stunned with Glenn Maxwell's sudden decision to take a break from cricket due to mental health issues. Cricket Australia Team Psychologist Dr. Michael Lloyd said that Glenn Maxwell had been experiencing some difficulties with regards to his mental health. As a result, he was going to spend some time away from the game. He added that Glenn Maxwell was proactive in identifying these issues and engaging with support staff.

The Indian commentator and analyst said that Glenn Maxwell was one of the last players that he had expected would have issues with his mental health. Hailing Glenn Maxwell to be full of life and cheer, Harsha Bhogle hoped that Glenn Maxwell would return to action soon. Harsha Bhogle also highlighted the hidden stress faced by top-athletes as a result of the pressure on them to perform. Harsha Bhogle took to Twitter to post his message for the Australian all-rounder.

Glenn Maxwell to take an indefinite break

Glenn Maxwell's decision was met with a lot of sensitivity from the Cricket Board, as Ben Oliver who is the executive general manager of the Australian team said that the well-being of the players and staff was paramount. Oliver said that the well-being of the players and staff was of utmost importance and extended the Board's support to him. He went on to say that Cricket Australia was going to work collaboratively with Cricket Victoria's support staff to ensure Glenn's well-being and his reintegration into the game. He urged everyone to give Glenn, his family and friends space and requested them to respect their privacy. Oliver added that Glenn Maxwell was a special player and an important part of the Australian cricket family and he wanted to see him back in the team during the summer.
