Stuart Broad, who recently made a remarkable end to his celebratory career as a bowler, may not have been a seasoned bowler after all. In a huge revelation made by Stuart Broad's father Chris Broad, Broady might have pursued a career as a batsman. According to senior Broad, his son "started off" as a batsman but soon in the club cricket circuit his real talent was observed.

A fairytale end to a brilliant career

Throughout his 17-year-long career, Stuart Broad has been touted as an exceptional bowler, who carries the ability to bat as well. However, it could have been the other way around, or who knows he might have ended his career with 10,000 or more runs. But destiny had something else in store for him and it was indeed glorious. 

It was a fairytale ending that saw Alex Carey becoming the final victim of his swing, and with it, England moved toe to toe with the Aussies in Ashes 2023. All of the cricket world came together to celebrate an incredible career and in the aftermath, Chris Broad has divulged that the script would have been different had he picked the bat instead of the ball. Chris Broad reveals Stuart Broad started as a batsman

Chris Broad told BBC that his son started his career as a batsman but during his time in Leicestershire, the observers saw his ability with the ball and thus began the chapter of a prolific wicket-taker. Broad evolved as a bowler and ended with 604 Test wickets, making him 5th in the overall list. Here's what Chris Broad said.

"It has been surprising - particularly as a bowler," Chris added. He started off as a batter but Leicestershire saw he had the ability to bowl and he grew into this guy who was 6ft 6ins who was able to get it down the other end quite quickly. It was his control, line and length that was impressive - right from the start. Right from the time he played first-class cricket at Grace Road through to The Oval he has loved every moment of playing a sport that so many other would love to play as well - and loved to be playing at the highest level. Very quickly after playing for Leicestershire he was playing for England and he never really looked back. It's an astonishing, immediate rise and something he has maintained for all those years - it's quite remarkable."
