'Heart goes out to families': Sehwag, cricket world pay tribute to Anantnag clash martyrs

Former Indian cricketers like Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir and Harbhajan Singh paid their tribute to the daring Army personnel martryed in Anantnag.

Tributes have poured in for the daring Indian soldiers who gave away their lives for the country while fighting the terrorists in the Anantnag and Rajouri districts of Jammu and Kashmir. The entire country was in extreme grief after hearing the news of the Anantnag and Rajouri encounter, and they paid homage to the brave hearts via the social media platforms.

  • 3 officers, two from the Indian Army and one from the J&K Police laid their lives while fighting the terrorists in Anantnag 
  • A six-year-old dog named Kent also lost her life while fighting the militants 
  • Col. Manpreet Singh, Major Ashish Dhonak, J&K Police DSP Humayun Bhat and Rifleman Ravi Kumar are the names who lost their lives while taking on the militants

Virender Sehwag pays tribute to Anantnag and Rajouri encounter martyrs 

Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag paid his tribute to the martyr Army Jawans and wrote for the same on his official 'X' handle. Sehwag's tweet read: 

Heart goes out to the families of our great soldiers and officer who sacrificed their lives in an encounter in Anantnag. Indebted to their sacrifice for the nation.

Apart from Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Suresh Raina and Harbhajan Singh also came up with their tributes for the Indian brave hearts for Anantnag and Rajouri and wrote on 'X'.

What happened in Anantnag and Rajouri? 

On the morning of September 13, 2023, the Indian Army continued its search operations for terrorists in the forests of Anantnag. During the operation, the Indian Army killed one of the three terrorists, whereas the search for the rest two is still on. However, during the encounter, the Indian Army lost their four soldiers and one Army dog.
