Having made a name for himself in the Indian Premier League (IPL) while playing for Mumbai Indians, Tilak Varma spoke about his emotional journey to the national side in a heartwarming video shared by the BCCI. Varma appeared in the video with fellow cricketer Ishan Kishan. The call-up came as a surprise to him while he was participating in the Duleep Trophy, leaving his parents overwhelmed with emotions upon hearing the news, Verma revealed.
"I got to know about my selection in the Indian team while playing in the Duleep Trophy. I immediately shared the news with my parents and coach, they were very emotional. I spoke briefly to my mom and dad but then cut the call because they started crying over the phone. I wanted to speak to them for some more time but then they got emotional so I disconnected," Varma said in a chat with Ishan Kishan.
