'I had a tremendous WC, I wanted to take a break': Shreyas Iyer reveals how he got dropped by BCCI
Using YouTube as the platform, Shreyas Iyer finally opened up on how he got dropped by BCCI despite playing fairly well in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023.

Shreyas Iyer emerged as one of standout batters for India in ICC ODI World Cup 2023. Having compounded 530 runs in World Cup and being a capable performer in all three formats, Iyer's position in team was ostensibly cemented. However, some unknown turn of events saw his stature dwindle, leing to his eventual departure from India side. As considerable time has passed, Iyer has finally opened up on his sudden dismissal from team India.

Shreyas Iyer on how he got dropped from Team India
Following some quiet months, Shreyas Iyer has started to make rumblings again. This time not only as a batter, but as captain of KKR too. Iyer returned to captaining Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2024 and took team to its third-ever championship. Iyer is not a part of Team India side that is currently on tour for ICC T20 World Cup 2024, but an entry back to Indian side is on cards.
Through medium of YouTube, Shreyas Iyer laid out clarity on why he was suddenly dropped and his central contract was cancelled. Iyer divulged that, following ODI World Cup, he wanted to take a brear and focus on building his strength. He stated that in between some miscommunication transpired with decision makers at BCCI, and thus some calls did not go his way.

"I h a tremendous World Cup. I wanted to take a break after that, work on my body & build my strength around certain areas - due to lack of communication, re were some decisions that didn’t go in my favour." Iyer said on his YouTube channel.

Resolute Shreyas Iyer aims to return and win trophies
Despite setback, Iyer kept in mind that his performance will once again bring him into fray and following Mumbai's win in Ranji Trophy and KKR's exceptional domination in IPL 2024, he is hopeful about re-entry and aims to win many trophies in future.
"At end of day bat is always going to be in my hand & it’s upon me to perform and win trophies. I knew that once I win Ranji Trophy and IPL, that will be an apt answer to whatever happened in past. Thankfully, everything fell in right place. We have a lot more trophies to win in future". Iyer ded.
