ICC Awaits PCB’s Decision On Hybrid Model For Champions Trophy After India Decline To Travel

International Cricket Council has sought a response from Pakistan Cricket Board on hosting Champions Trophy in a hybrid model following India's refusal to travel to country for tournament.

PCB on Sunday h confirmed that it received an email from ICC that India declined to travel to neighbouring country.

“Unless PCB decides to pull out of hosting Champions Trophy current plan is to hold India’s matches in UAE and final in Dubai,” a source told PTI on Monday.

“ Indian Cricket Board has told ICC that a Hybrid Model is acceptable to m only if final is held in Dubai and t in Pakistan,” source ded.

PCB on Monday remained silent without giving any reaction to BCCI informing ICC it will t send its team to play in Pakistan in Champions Trophy.

But according to sources, ICC has asked PCB to confirm if a Hybrid Model -- where India’s matches and final would be held in Dubai -- is acceptable to m.

ICC has assured PCB that, under this arrangement, y would receive full hosting fees and a majority of matches.

“ ICC has told PCB that if it decides to go ahe with hosting of mega event on a Hybrid Model it would get its full hosting fees and majority of matches,” source said.

However, if PCB decides to pull out of hosting tournament due to India's refusal, ICC could consider moving entire event to South Africa, source ded.

Earlier, a PCB source h said re was " talk" of a Hybrid Model as of w and y would seek furr clarity from ICC.

"re is talk about having Champions Trophy on a Hybrid Model system as of w," a reliable PCB source told PTI.

"An email is to be sent to ICC with vice of its legal department in which Board wanted clarifications from ICC on Indian decision," source said.

"As of w entire situation is being gauged by PCB. decision has been taken on next step. Yes PCB is in touch with government for consultation and directives if required," source ded.

Meanwhile, Pakistani media speculated on potential responses, including Pakistan government vising PCB to avoid playing India altoger or PCB pursuing legal action against ICC and BCCI at Court of Arbitration for Sport in Geneva.

India have t travelled to Pakistan since 2008 Mumbai terror strikes. two teams compete against each or only in ICC tournaments.
