ICC Suffers Loss Of Whopping 167 Crore By Hosting T20 World Cup 2024 In USA: Reports

ICC has reportedly suffered heavy loss by hosting the T20 World Cup 2024 first leg of the tournament in USA.

The T20 World Cup 2024 which was co hosted by the West Indies and USA looked seemed like a successful event which ended in India winning the tournament by beating South Africa in a thrilling final at Barbados to end the country's 13 year wait for a World Cup trophy. 

However, as it turns out hosting a World Cup to promote the sport in USA turned out to be a extremely costly for ICC as according to reports the cricket's governing body has suffered hefty monitory loss.

ICC suffers heavy losses by hosting World Cup in USA

The decision to host the initial leg of the World Cup for the first time ever in USA was one that was debated even when the tournament was ongoing given the poor conditions of drop in pitches at stadiums in USA. 

However according to reports, the decision to host the first leg of the tournament in USA ended up costing a lot to ICC as they suffered a massive monetary loss.

According to a report by PTI, ICC suffered a loss of around USD $20 Million which equates to a massive 167 Crore for hosting the tournament in USA. The report further stated that the 167 crore loss is going to be a key talking point in ICC's annual conference in Colombo.

Who will become new ICC Chairman? 

As the Annual ICC meet at Colombo commences another key point of discussion among the members is going to be whether Greg Barclay continue as ICC Chairman or will BCCI secretary Jay Shah take over as the new ICC chairman.

It is widely believed that Jay Shah is the favourite to take over as ICC Chairman once his six year tenure as BCCI secretary comes to an end in 2024.
