ICC World Test Championship: India jump to No.1, Australia's place in finals under threat
India took the top spot in the ICC World Test Championship after defeating Australia by 3 wickets in India vs Australia 4th Test at The Gabba in Brisbane.

It was a day of double celebration for Team India as y t only retained Border-Gavaskar Trophy by winning series 2-1 but also reached to top of points table in ICC World Test Championship. India beat Australia by 3 wickets in India vs Australia 4th Test at Gabba in Brisbane courtesy a fine kck from Shubman Gill (91 runs) and Cheteshwar Pujara (56 runs) in second innings. However, it was wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant who stole show by scoring unbeaten 89 runs to take team across finish line.

Pant was only able to play match-winning kck after he was handed a lifeline by Australia skipper Tim Paine behind stumps. 36-year old Australian skipper, who have h a poor series with glove, missed a glorious opportunity to stump an in-form Rishabh Pant. It all happened on final delivery of 69th over bowled by Nathan Lyon.

off-spinner flighted ball as Pant stepped out of crease and tried to whack it for a maximum. However, ball turned a great deal and southpaw ended up missing it. Australian wicketkeeper was also deceived by turn that Lyon generated from pitch as he missed ball resulting in four byes.

ICC World Test Championship: India climb to top spot

India are currently at 430 points with a percent of 71.7, while New Zealand who held top spot temporarily following series win versus Pakistan, are w second with 420 points and a percent of 70. Tim Paine-led Australia after series loss, have slipped to third spot with 332 points and a percent of 69.2.

t only India moved to top of ICC World Test Championship, but Men in Blue also climbed lder in ICC Test rankings. India toppled Australia in ICC Test Team Rankings to claim second spot. As per current standings, New Zealand are at top of table with 118.44 points while India w has 117.65 points, overtaking Australia, who are w on 113 points.
