The two former Indian Cricketers, Sourav Ganguly and Rahul Dravid, met on Wednesday at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore and held discussions to give a new shape to NCA infrastructure in Bangalore. Rahul Dravid, chief of the National Cricket Academy (NCA) reviewed a road map to take the academy to a new level with the BCCI President Sourav Ganguly.

Dravid and Ganguly go back a long way, even before they made their Test debuts together, at Lord’s in 1996, exploding at the international stage. They played age-group cricket in India together and traveled as part of the Indian youth teams in the late 1980s

Ganguly and Dravid visit proposed property

Ganguly, along with NCA officials, also visited the proposed land for building a new NCA facility in Bangalore. The cricket governing body has got an additional 15 acres of land from the Karnataka government for setting up the Centre of Excellence near the international airport here. BCCI had completed the 25-acre deal with the state government in May. The total area of the facility is now 40 acres. The BCCI has been planning to find an alternate location to build the NCA with state-of-the-art facilities for a couple of years now. The land allocated for the NCA is a stone's throw away from the Kempegowda International Airport in Devanahalli. It should be adequate for three grounds, apart from indoor nets, administrative buildings, and the hostels. The land allotted is said to be on a 99-year lease.

Dravid and Ganguly's journey

Ganguly and Dravid have been an integral part of the Indian Cricket Team that performed wonderfully through the 2000s. Ganguly became one of the team’s key middle-order batsmen and more importantly, a trailblasing leader, while Dravid, also a captain with a strong record, finished his career as one of the greatest run-scorers in the game. The duo as played together for a long time and have shared many off-field memories.
