During an appearance on Star Sports, Sunil Gavaskar backed Virat Kohli to deliver his best performance while down under. While Kohli has been through a lean phase lately, Gavaskar backed Kohli's track record in Australian conditions, saying that it would give right-handed batter enhanced confidence he needs for crucial Test series. While former cricketer believes Kohli may need some luck, and once he sets off a good start, he could go big in entire series.

“Because he hasn't scored runs against New Zealand, he'll be very, very hungry. Even in that elaide Test, where India was bowled out for 36 in second innings, Kohli scored 70-plus runs in first innings before being run out.
"He has consistently performed in elaide, a ground he knows well. Before elaide, it's Perth, where Kohli played one of his finest Test centuries in 2018-19 series — a terrific hundred. Having performed on se grounds, he'll feel an extra bit of confidence. Of course, you need a bit of luck at start, but if he gets off to a good beginning, he will score big runs," Sunil Gavaskar said.
