Call it a depleted or second-string bowling attack, Team India's spinner & pacers put up their best efforts at Delhi's Arun Jaitley Stadium on Sunday, but were seriously found wanting as India lost their first-ever T20 match against Bangladesh. Barring Yuzvendra Chahal none of the bowlers could bowl at a tight line and gave away too many runs at the death overs. Inexperienced bowlers like Deepak Chahar, Khaleel Ahmed, and Washington Sundar looked below par and failed to deliver when it mattered the most.

Focus shifts on bowling
So now team India's immediate task was to sort out the bowling issues primarily as a unit and at death overs as Men in Blue's think tank swung into action at the nets in Rajkot with a clear focus shifting on spinners and pacers bowling to specific plans. The plan was different to left and right-handed batsmen, following a tight line & length and mixing up with wrong ones. Before the training session, Chahal, who in the absence of regular pacers & spinners, found himself as the most experienced bowler in the team, felt that Team India would more often than not win matches if they collectively bowled well as a unit or group.

"If we bowl well as a team, we will win. As bowling is not just a matter of one person. All of our bowlers have played close to 30-40 IPL matches and they have a lot of experience. I probably have played only a few more T20s compared to them. I just bowl 4 overs in a match and the rest 16 is in the hands of the others."
