‘Think Like A...’: Nitish Kumar Reddy Reveals Gautam Gambhir’s Strategy Which Boosted His Confidence

The Indian Cricket Team saw their top order tumble in the 2nd T20I match at Delhi's Arun Jaitley Stadium. With Bangladeshi bowlers coming into action early in the play, Team India looked to be in trouble. But the middle-order saved India the day as their relentless efforts helped them set up a massive target on the scoreboard. Debutant Nitish Kumar Reddy, who came to the Men in Blue's as they batted, revealed the strategy which Gautam Gambhir suggested he utilize as they faced the opposition.

Nitish Kumar Reddy Unveils Gautam Gambhir 's Tactics in 2nd T20I between India and Bangladesh  

While speaking to the BCCI media official in a video, Nitish Kumar Reddy credited head coach Gautam Gambhir for giving him more confidence after he fostered a strategy which the India all-rounder out to use against the Bangladeshi batting attack. The head coach urged the all-rounder to think like a pure bowler, which Reddy believes helped enhanced his confidence.  

“The conversation that we were having (was) a smooth conversation, we were not taking any pressure. We did not plan anything about the score. We saw the spinner coming on to bowl, and we thought that this was the main over and we should take him on.

“To be honest, I should thank Gautam sir for this. He gave a lot of confidence in me. He told me to believe in my bowling. (He said) 'when you are bowling, you should think like a bowler and not as a batsman who can bowl'. That is what he kept telling me and that somehow boosted me,” Nitish Kumar Reddy said in the video.

India found itself in trouble after losing their top order early in the power-play, but Nitish Kumar Reddy and Rinku Singh banded together to turn the tables on Bangladesh . The pair put on 108 runs for the fourth wicket from 49 balls, taking the game away from Bangladesh , with Reddy hitting seven sixes and four fours for 74 from just 34 balls. Reddy's aggressive performance helped him win the Player of the Match award, for which he was grateful.

"Playing for India is in itself a proud moment and getting the man of the match (award), I feel so grateful for this and I just want to live in this moment,” Reddy added.
